Black and White

The Leopard Print Bag

The first picture I have taken is of a bag that belongs to a student that goes by the name of Chelsey. Her bag is unique and very colourful so I thought that if I were to change it into black and white it would have many different shades. I took the picture so that the bag was more in the picture then the wooden bench it is on because it could apply to one of the rules of thirds, which would be the one third over rule. The pattern on the bag is also very eye catching as well as the leather which turned to be a solid black.
The Endless Hallway

The second picture that I have taken is of the lockers in a hallway. At first when I saw it I thought it would just be another photo of a locker, but I remembered that it would not be coloured. I then thought of how the lighting from the lights would affect the shine on the lockers, and how the lockers seem to be darker the farther away it was. I like how the locker is upclose in one end, and gets smaller and darker on the other end. It reminds me of an endless hallway! Now that I have seen the outcome of this photo, it looks exactly how I pictured it too look. This photo also follows the rule of one third over.

Who's The New Kid?

This is the new kid that I have created. I used my face but changed the lips, to Nicki's lips and the eyes to Erin's. It was complicated to blend the skin tones together and make it look even. It looks better then that it had looked like before Mrs. Reidel taught me how to flatten my image, and use the clone stamp to even out the skin. In doing this assignment I found that the outcome of it was much better then my potato head! I didn't have a specific goal in doing this but I did hope it would at least look a bit realistic, which I find it somewhat does. If you glance at it really quickly, I find that it looks believe-able, but if you stare at it, not so much! The cheeks and lips are a little odd and didn't really fit in the way I would have liked them too. I am satisfied in what I have created and am glad I had a chance to make 'A New Kid In Class.'  :)

The New Mrs. Potato Head

Yesterday in Media Arts, we learned the basics of Adobe Photoshop. It was quite easy to use. I learned that naming every layer that is created was very convenient to find what parts I needed. The most complicated and frustrating part of doing this assignment was trying to blend in the parts to the egg. I'm fairly satisfied in the ''Mr. Potato Head'' that I have created, though more options would have been better. Overall, I enjoyed creating my own ''Mr. Potato Head'' and am thankful of the new skills I have learned in doing so.

I have chosen the background ''Toy Story 3'' because the thought of creating a ''Mr. Potato Head'' made me think of this movie. It is one of my favorite movies of all time and hopefully everyone else has seen it too.
Woody's the best! :)

A Little Bit About Me

Hey, my names Karina Le. I'm a senior at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Highschool. I've taken this class so that I can enhance my photoshop skills and computer skills. I would enjoy seeing what other artists see and hopefully will be able to create something of my own.

''The artist is not a different kind of person, but every person is a different kind of artist.''
- Eric Gil

The artwork done by Josh Sommers is truely unique. He sees the world in a different point of view. The way he portrays what he sees in his artwork is very eye-catching and different. An example of this would be his painting of ''Curtis Granderson Playboy Spread.'' Simple things such as roots growing out from the ground is enough to inspire Josh Sommers to create an amazing piece of artwork. After looking through a variety of artwork done by Josh Sommers I would have to say my favorite would be ''Blossoming.'' In this piece of artwork, I believe he tried to portray that everyone has a future, and everyone has a purpose in life.

I have read through the Studio Rules and agree to whatever is needed or required to keep this class
up and going!

"No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist."
- Oscar Wilde

The quote written by Oscar Wilde is a very powerfull quote. I agree to what this quote is saying because artists are able to see and find beauty in everything. If an artist was to create a piece of artwork from just what they see with the bare eye, it wouldn't make it any different. Though some artists go beyond that and create what they see, and that is what real art is about. Everyone sees the world in their own way, some express it in artwork and others express it in words.
